Back for Another Brazilian Blow Dry5.28.2009

nicole-richie-brazilian-blow-dry-0528096

Last night I got another Brazilian blow dry. Some of you may remember I’ve written about this treatment before. It has saved me so much time and ultimately has made my hair grow since I’m not putting direct heat on it everyday.  I even got my mom to get one last night and she hasn’t stopped talking about it since.

I cannot recommend this treatment enough, it’s the best thing I’ve done in a while.

For those of you who are interested in trying out this amazing treatment, call the Andy LeCompte Salon at (310) 273-4100 and ask for Liz.

Support Organic Gardens in Schools5.12.2009

Today I joined the Environmental Media Association & LA Unified School District as they launched their partnership with a groundbreaking ceremony at Helen Bernstein High School in Hollywood in support of organic gardens and greenery in schools across Los Angeles.

I’ve been a board member of the Environmental Media Association for four years now, and when I heard they were taking on this very powerful awareness program, I immediately wanted to help. The purpose of school is education, and to me, it doesn’t make sense to educate children in math, science, history, and literature, but not educate them in nutrition and their environment. This program will give me the opportunity to help mentor students in these very important subjects.

The other members of the board include Amy Smart, Maroon 5, Rosario Dawson, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Maria Menounos, Lance Bass, Maggie Q, Olivia Wilde, Anna Getty, Mathew Rhys, and more. Each of us will be adopting a school to raise awareness for the program and help students with environmental education. Here are just a few ways I think you can begin to help in your own communities:

1. Visit your local farmers market, and purchase organic produce
2. Start a small garden in your own home or school
3. Share with friends and family the importance of eating natural/pesticide free foods
4. Visit the Environmental Media Associations website to find out more about how you can contribute to a better world. www.ema-online.org

Do That Conga!5.5.2009

I have to say, I love Miami! Never has work been this much fun. This morning I was on the Regis & Kelly Show promoting my jewelry line. They are in Miami this week shooting at the pool of the Fontainebleau Resort. I managed to appear on their show, and get a tan at the same time!

I had the afternoon off & spent the rest of the day with my family just relaxing by the pool and then we had an early dinner out. It’s 90 degrees here and beautiful!

Tomorrow I’ll be doing a signing for my jewelry line and hopefully, if you live here in Miami, I’ll see you :)

My Many Hair Colors5.2.2009

I change my hair color all the time. I love experimenting with different looks. However, over the years, because I was changing colors so much, my hair was getting extremely damaged.

Since I had no plans of slowing down anytime soon, I needed to find a colorist that cared about the health of my hair as much as the color. I met Tracey Cunningham about 4 years ago. And I have to say, she is the best hair colorist I’ve ever worked with. She has changed my hair color so many times over the past 4 years, but managed to keep my hair in great shape in the process. Since I’ve been either pregnant, or nursing for the past 2 years straight, I haven’t been able to really change my hair all that much. But Tracey also works with color that is 100 percent safe for pregnant women, and has been keeping my color up.

She just recently opened up her own salon with Byron Williams called Byron and Tracey in West Hollywood. I couldn’t recommend someone more.

Check Out this Hand-Me-Downs Auction4.7.2009

nicole-richie-hand-me-down-auction

Hello everyone,

I wanted to tell you about a charity hand-me-downs auction that I’m participating in that starts today on the site handmedowns.com.  I’m proud to be donating some of Harlow’s baby clothes and other gear to this auction. The proceeds will go directly to The Richie Madden Children’s Foundation to help bring more opportunities to children in the US and abroad.

When I heard about this auction, I thought about how fortunate I am to be able to give Harlow so many things, from basic essentials to clothes. I have seen first-hand how many children lack the most basic items. I was so happy to clean out her closet and donate some of her hand-me-downs to this auction. I hope you will check it out.

I also encourage you to clean out your closets and garages and consider giving some of your stuff away too. There are so many families in need.  Thank you for taking a look–I hope you enjoy the things as much as we did!

And please go to handmedowns.com and help support our cause.
